I am writing to inform both parents and students of some very important program dates as we approach the beginning of the school year.
Fall Sports Meeting: Monday August 8th 6:30 p.m.
All CHS students planning to participate in high school Fall sports need to attend the Fall sports meeting on Monday, August 8th. We will start in the auditorium and then have sport specific break out meetings. If you are considering a Fall sport please plan on attending.
Freshman/New Student Orientation Monday August 8th 7:30 p.m.
All 9th grade and transfer students need to attend a presentation in the HS auditorium at 7:30 p.m. with a parent or guardian. Your new student will also have the opportunity to see their schedule, check their locker and find their classrooms, which should eliminate some stress on the first day of school!
The deadline for Fall schedule changes was June 1, however I do understand that career interest and course changes can happen during the summer. If there are any students that would like to look at their schedules for a possible change this semester, I will be in my office each day until school starts. I would be happy to look at any schedule to see if a change is possible these next two weeks if the change is validated through a change of interest. However, there will be NO changing schedules once school begins, unless requested by a teacher or there is a mistake in your schedule (example: duplicate classes, missing pre-requisite class, ect). This means you cannot try out or “test” a class for a few days and then switch. Please see me now if needing a change.
First Day of School
Last reminder, first day of school is a 1:30 out on August 17th! We will start the day out in the HS auditorium.
Enjoy the last two weeks of summer break! If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to call or email.

Are you interested in learning test strategies to up your ACT scores? On March 31st at Bridgeport HS will host Chad Cargill, ACT guru from Oklahoma and has graciously invited CHS students to attend! Chad is an ACT Consultant that spends most of his time in Oklahoma and Texas presenting workshops to students. Chad is the founder of Cargill Consulting,www.cargillcounsulting.com. During high school Chad knew he needed to win scholarships in order to attend Oklahoma State University. Chad's freshman year in high school, he discovered that many scholarships were based on ACT scores and the journey was on. He took the ACT a total of 18 times in high school raising his score from a 19 to a 32. This phenomenal increase was simply due to him learning what was on the test and how to take it.
The cost for attending will be $30 per student. Checks can be written to Bridgeport Public Schools.
Mrs. Watson will take a group of interested students down to Bridgeport this day. Please bring your $30 check written out to Bridgeport Public Schools by February 12th to attend. Please check out the website www.cargillconsulting.com for more information.
