Parents and Students - I want to remind you that ALL juniors will be taking the ASVAB next Wednesday Oct 21 at 8:00 a.m. at the CSC Student Center Ballroom. The ASVAB is a multiple-aptitude battery that measures developed abilities and helps predict future academic and occupational success in the military. It is administered annually to more than one million high school, and post-secondary students.
The ASVAB is used by students and counselors to help
1. Learn more about themselves and the world of work
2. Explore occupations with interests and skills
3. Develop and effective strategy to realize their career goals
The program is designed to be helpful to all students whether they plan to enter the workforce, military, or to pursue further education at a college, university, or vocational school. Students will be taking this test at the CSC Student Center in the ballroom and need to report by 7:45 Wednesday morning.
This past week Chadron High School participated in Nebraska’s College Application Week sponsored by EducationQuest Foundation. As part of Nebraska’s college access initiative, CHS worked with its seniors on to complete and submit at least one college application.
The goal of the program is to get more students applying to Nebraska colleges early in their senior year. During this event, students applied to any of colleges or universities in which they were interested.
This initiative is part of the American College Application Campaign (ACAC), a national initiative that is an effort of the American Council on Education. In 2014, ACAC campaigns took place in 39 states and the District of Columbia. The goal is for all states to hold College Application events in 2015.
We are proud of our seniors for completion of their first college application. Our hope is that once they submit an application with assistance from the guidance office, they gain confidence in the application process and will be able to apply to other institutions on their own. Way to go CHS seniors!
