This class focuses on the study of human communication in intra-personal and interpersonal contexts. You will develop the understanding and skills necessary for effective oral communication including public speaking, group discussion, interview and interpersonal communication. There will be special emphasis on effective listening skills, researching techniques, verbal/non-verbal communication and critical thinking skills. 
 

Journalism/Yearbook

This course may be taken more than once. It will explore the world of electronic media and print media.  Students will learn the basics of journalism (story writing, editing, photography, captions, headlines, legal issues, computer knowledge), while also using a blog to keep the public up-to-date about learning at Chadron Public Schools.  In addition, students will create and build the school yearbook using an online format.

Seniors may take this class to explore career/educational options. Students will research schools, scholarships and careers. Students will earn credit for attending college fairs, college visits and applying for scholarships.
